Stapleton is a village in and the county seat of Logan County, Nebraska, United States.[3] The population was 301 at the 2000 census.

Stapleton is part of the North Platte, Nebraska Micropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 301 people, 126 households, and 83 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,219.5 people per square mile (464.9/km²). There were 144 housing units at an average density of 583.4 per square mile (222.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.00% White, 0.33% Native American, and 0.66% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.00% of the population.

There were 126 households out of which 31.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 31.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 3.05.

In the village the population was spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $33,125, and the median income for a family was $37,143. Males had a median income of $27,813 versus $25,625 for females. The per capita income for the village was $14,822. About 4.8% of families and 9.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under the age of eighteen and 13.0% of those sixty five or over.
